With MultiMesh! into a New Era of Screen Printing

For decades, the traditional screen printing process has been labor-intensive, material-consuming, and dependent on numerous manual steps: meshes had to be stretched, coated, exposed, developed, and finally cleaned — all requiring water, chemicals, and time.

Now, with MultiMesh!, a new era begins: instead of conventional screen mesh and photoemulsion, an innovative, fully enclosed polymer carrier is used. This carrier is mounted on a pneumatically self-tensioning frame and then processed using highly precise thermal laser technology, which simultaneously images both the mesh structure and the print design in a single step. The result is a fully digital, extremely precise print image — directly and without intermediate steps.

Since the mesh structure is generated digitally, different mesh counts can be precisely combined within a single screen for the first time — offering an unprecedented level of flexibility in screen printing. Moreover, the entire process operates without water and chemicals, as the traditional development process is completely eliminated. MultiMesh! thus stands not only for maximum precision, but also for a sustainable, resource-efficient production approach.

MultiMesh! Cube – The Laser System Behind MultiMesh!

The MultiMesh! Cube is the high-end laser imaging system developed to support the MultiMesh! process. With up to 64 laser diodes and resolution up to 1’200 dpi, it delivers outstanding precision. The machine is nearly maintenance-free, energy-efficient, and easy to operate.

Current Technology Status and Application Scope

Currently, MultiMesh! is approved for T-shirt direct printing using carousel printing systems with up to four colors and a maximum resolution of 1’200 dpi. The system is already in successful production operation at an initial textile customer running a 3-shift schedule, making it fully validated and released for sale in this application area.

Additional applications, including printing processes with more than four colors as well as alternative processes such as transfer printing, are currently undergoing intensive testing. Following successful implementation under real production conditions at pilot customers, these applications will be gradually released for the market.
