LED-UV Curing for Label Printing Applications
At this year's Labelexpo, the UV specialist Hönle will present LED curing devices from its comprehensive LED Powerline product series for fast and energy-efficient curing in label printing. Amongst them the new LED Powerline LC HV as shown.

Hönle LED-UV curing devices are used for both, the pinning and the final curing of printing inks and varnishes in label printing. This applies to flexographic printing as well as to applications in offset and screen printing – and to digital inkjet printing. The advantage: LED-UV can be used with a wide variety of substrates, even and especially with those that can only withstand a low temperature input.
Due to its role as a pioneer in LED-UV curing technology and its close cooperation with paint and press manufacturers, Dr. Hönle AG offers a large selection of curing devices, which can be individually tailored to special customer requirements. This applies especially to the tried-and-tested LED Powerline product series.
The new water-cooled LED Powerline LC HV is supplied with a voltage of 400 V DC, which enables the use of thin cables suitable for drag chains. The LED system achieves very high intensities of up to 25,000 mW/cm² and ensures fast and reliable curing of printing inks and varnishes. The length of the device can be modularly adapted to the application.
In addition, the LED Powerline LC HV has the option of a variable format switch-off. If desired, the LED module can be pressurized to prevent paint dust from settling in the system.
At Labelexpo, Hönle will also present the LED Powerline AC/IC HP. This air-cooled LED-UV high-performance device with intensities of up to 16,000 mW/cm² convinces through its compact design and light weight. For larger irradiation widths, LED heads can be lined up without gaps.
If plug & play control is preferred, the LED Powerline AC/IC is also available with the LED powerdrive IC. All crucial settings can be made on its clear display where also status information can be seen at one glance.
A water-cooled high-performance LED-UV array is the LED Powerline LC, which can be installed even in the smallest gaps inside the printing press due to its low weight and small size. This proven LED system is in use in a multitude of inkjet applications.
LED Powerline LC as well as LED Powerline AC/IC HP can be equipped with special optics to focus the UV irradiation. This relieves the printing head and significantly increases process reliability.
Co-exhibitors at the Hönle booth are its two subsidiaries PrintConcept UV-Technik and UV-Technik Speziallampen. They show LED and UV curing devices as well as inert curing systems for web offset printing or tailor-made UV and IR emitters as well as measuring technology.
